After a rather nasty accident in which I hit a dog, I decided I needed a chest protector, I had thought about it many times, had seen the Thor Sentinel, thought it looked cool, but had always thought there would be no way I could ever get used to a chest protector because of all the years I have spent riding without one, I was wrong. I paid eighty five dollars plus the shipping  from motosport.com, I could have found one cheaper on ebay with out a doubt, but I didn't have my pay pal set up at that time. When it arrived, the first thing that was noticeable was the attention to detail, it was well built, and looked cool. There is a clear plastic strap on the rear that hangs down, this is for people who would rather have a front only chest protector as the back plate is removable. Thor claims its the lightest chest protector on the market, weighing in at about 1 and 1/2 pounds. I believe them, the first time I rode with it I forgot i was wearing it, there was no adjustment period, it was perfect. Its already survived a couple crashes, but nothing major, so far its been great to me. Some people feel that a chest protector is not nessecary, I beg to differ, roost hurts, bars to the chest hurts, a lot can go wrong, granted no part of your gear is going to save your life with out a doubt, its impossible for it to do so, because face it, people get hurt in our sport, but this doesnt mean that we need to be running around without gear, its stupid to do so. I have a firm belief that if your riding without a chest protector, its only a matter of time before your forced to, if your lucky, so I would recommend getting one, and I would also recommend, the thor sentinel.
