In response to why the pros ride 4 cycles: if the competition was that close and I could have an extra 4 hp and a couple 10ths of a second a lap I'd take it. As for why the 4s rev higher, the fresh intake charge that is sucked out into the exhaust has to stop and change dirrection back into the cylinder before the piston closes the port by a sonic wave coming from the back of the expansion chamber in the 2 cycle and there is a speed limit to it. Thats the simplified version, I dont want to write a tech journal. Actually I'm a little sore, I found out what happens when a wind gust hits you from the side on a long floater when you're not prepared for it today. Oh, since I will never race in a pro class, I'm sticking with a 2.
