what would happen performance wise if you where to make the intake manifold longer on a 4 stroke?

all i see is that it would minorly affect power to make it less. but, i dont know what you mean, why would you?

for me to put my klx motor in mt xr's frame i need to move the carb to clear the shock...

i was thinking about putting a wedge shaped spacer between the rubber mount and the head to get it to angle out of the way

sounds like it would work to me, although im no expert, you might just be able to get a whole new one that will fit.

Well, it would give you more power on the top end. Tuners spend lots of time on the length of it. Then Yamaha came out with the 2 length intake manifold on their R1's. It changes length when the engine RPM hits a certain level.

tig, what is a powerbomb? or i think thats what its called, i saw it on "mx culture" on a four stroke, he said it opens up to give more power at different times. its about right where an expansion chamber on a two stroke would be.

if it was a straight shot into the engine but if there is an angle in the intake manifold it wont let you efficiently get air

a power bomb is a pipe with a bulge in it, it works on the theory that water pressure does and rpidly expanding and forcing the exhaust gases into a smaller space will make it flow more rapidly
