One of the main reasons they are being discontinued is due to fedral laws that control emissions.

I wonder how much longer Yamaha and KTM are going to continue making 2-strokes. Is there any proof that Emissions laws did anything i mean they are just dirtbikes its not like they are trucks or cars.

The government is trying to kill as many emissions a spossible. Which can be a good thing it just happens to hurt anybody that enjoys anything with an engine!!

emsission laws do not have any control over closed course racing, or the machines that participate in them, do you think that NASCAR is even close to meeting current standards? just because it is a 4 stroke doesnt mean it is clean. or think about jet skis, they dont either, or any kind of boat that doesnt have DFI right now

Anyways, on the bright side I love the torque on a 4-stoke. Its amazing on a 450, the 250f eh not so much.

in the latest dirt rider they did a test on 250f vs 250 2t, heck they threw in a 450 and a 250 2t in too, and the lap times are
Jimmy Lewis
250f:2:12
250 2t: 2:13
290f: 2:13
450 2:12
Ryan Orr
250f: 2:08
250 2t: 2:13
290F: 2:10
450: 2:09
jesse ziegler
250f: 2:19
250: 2:23
290: 2:21
450: 2:17

and so on, the trend continues, the 250f peels off better lap times

well being light is the name of the game in motocross, the lighter the bike the better the brakes feel, the harder you can go into the turn because you can flick it over, the more you can scrub that jump because you can whip it on, and the more power to wight you have, all wjile keeping it under control, 250f is the perfect balance. i wish they made new 200 motocross 2 stroke, that would be the perfect bike for me. KTM needs to bring it back
