So, as many of you know, the 77' xr75 is being rebuilt. Not by choice either, the indestructible bike I have from a well-respected line just wasnt built for supermoto/stunting. So, I go to sell the guy my alternator, because my original plan was to throw an xr100 motor in the bike. Anyways, to make a long story short the stubborn thing wouldnt come off, and we ended up cracking the magnet, now I still cant get it off! Any tips for getting it off without a gear-puller? Also, I managed to sell my carb I bought for $100 for $30
. Idk why, I wasnt thinking, oh well, I still have my old carb Ill throw on there. I couldnt get the cylinder off, turns out the gaskets are just fried on there, it was able to hold the weight of the motor, while breaking the alternator it finally came loose. I got an impact driver last night and got the clutch cover off, I had to use 100 grit to clean the remaining residue, anyone know if its ok to spray water in there to clean the shavings and dirt?
. Anyways it should come out to $250 to get this thing rebuilt. I dont care though, this is the funnest bike I have ever owned. The RM is great, but the xr is fun to supermoto around on and stunt.

am I the only one who realizes that this bike does not have a alternator?
it has a stator though.

Just what is an Alternator??
also, you should have to take the flywheel off before you get to the stator, is this what you are refering too?
