no, but i know the cr's arent that bad. like i said, 2lbs doesnt mean anything to me, its the dif between a full tank and a half tank of gas. i just like not having to worry about rust.

hay the way i see it the more you ride the stronger you get but the longer you ride the weaker your frame gets, i like steel as well.
the lack of rust is a great feature of aluminum but i love to be able to fix my own frame from parts from the local hardware store

why don't we coat our bike frames with chrome on nickel? prevent rust untill you manage to get it to scrape off. little harder than paint and it looks good to

ya, it would be nice, or why dont we just get some new material instead that is even harder to weld like titanium. did you know that when you weld titanium you need an argon cloud around not only the side you are welding but also the back of the joint too. say you are welding on a pipe, you actually have to tape everything off and purge the inside of the pipe with argon if you want a good weld.

coating the fames with nickel would be expensive and heavy and chrome would just be heavy, powdercoating like KTM has is the best way to go for steel, and aluminum just wont rust.

for some reason Im happy with the plain jane look of my bike and dont really want to change much.
When you start anodizing stuff its easy to get carried away.

you think a coat of metal that thin would make a noticeable difference?

yes, it would weigh a lot more. one thing people do not realize about anodized parts is that they are actually stronger. i talked my chemistry teacher into letting me anodize some parts during class one day. good stuff.
