    Places To Ride in SoCal

Hey I'm new to this and have only ridden at Hungry Valley. Lots of trails, hills, sand, etc., spread over about 20,000 acres of national forest land. Not super easy for a beginner but it was awesome.

ya that definately sounds like a sweet place to ride.

I have heard that it is some pretty good riding there. How far from there do you live? I used to live in Ojai/Ventura.

I'm in Santa Clarita so Hungry Valley (aka Gorman) is only 20 minutes north up the I-5 from me. They have everything from hills to sand to tracks and whoop-dees (how do you spell that?), and I can be home and crashed out in less than half an hour. Hey, nobody told me how tough this riding in sand is on the legs!!!

I'm looking for people to ride with that don't mind a beginner along. I bought a 2006 Honda CRF150F, it's my first bike and I'm still learning but I can hang!

crf150f ??? is the birthday in your profile real? if so, i would suggest a much bigger bike. the crf150f is made for kids up to maybe age 13-14. how tall are u, i wont ask weight lol. when u sit on a bike, u should just be able to touch the ground. if your knees are bent when your feet are on the ground or even if u can put your entire foot on the ground u may want to think about a bigger bike. u may like the smaller bike, thinking it is more manageable yet a bigger bike is actually much more manageable and u receive added benefits like a real suspension and lots more power for those desert long hauls.

Yes the birthdate in my profile is real, I'm only 5'3", 125 lbs and when I sit on the bike my toes only just touch the ground! I'm a beginner remember, I've ridden 3 times now and I'm happy learning on this little bike but I did buy it from a girl who also learned on it and after 6 months traded up to a 250. I can see me doing that but not til I'm more confident.

Jawbone Canyon is one of the best places in the state to ride. I use to go A LOT...the CR500 shines out there. Lots of hills.....nasty ones. You will see a lot of extended swingarm climbers out there. I had a 60 mile loop I ran....good singletrack, g-outs, the rock pile....good stuff! Be careful! Its big country, you break your bike out there and your hosed...or worse break a leg. People get medi-vac'ed out of there every weekend. I personally had to call 911 for a little boy that had a bad get off in a wash. His leg was turned 180 degree's the wrong way....poor kid!

The Saddleback MX track is closed its been closed for a while. This is the 3rd time its been closed however it has not re-opend for a few years.

A really good track to ride in the "Area" or closest to Orange County is -Lake Elsinore MX Park- _____________________________ they have 6 tracks to ride for all levels from there mini 50cc track for the tikes up to a huge MX track with 120' doubles as well as everything in between. A track for side-by-sides (Rhinos) trophy karts, Core trucks etc.

-StarWest- STARWEST - "Southern California's Premiere Motocross Park" it is in Parris CA. There are 2 tracks a main and a pee wee. One nice thing is there is night riding! LotsOfun!

-Milestone Ranch MX Park- http://www.milestonemx.com/ Is a nice place to ride it is located in Riverside. Has 5 tracks and a RC track :001_tongue: They too have night riding. ( good dirt )

-Cahuilla Creek MX- http://www.cahuillacreekmotocross.com/ Further outside orange county, closer to Temucla is Cahuilla, it is more of a old skool mx park. The main track does change elevation alot, with plenty of turns.
