yeah, sometimes, but if its just a small hole and there isnt much to tap sometimes you can get away with using a drill, sometimes. when i was working on my bike, i learned the hard way, i broke a tap in there with no way to retrieve it, and it took 2 days of hammering to get it out, but then i broke another one off in there (my dad did anyways) and it only took 10 minutes to get out.

i went as slow as i could with the drill and still snapped it and it had a correct size pilot hole, the new drill is too fast.

yes, and you always keep the tap lubricated with oil. a drill just cant go slow enough
