Red Bull KTM Team Wins "Parker 250"
Parker, AZ - Red Bull KTM Off-Road Team riders David Pearson and Shane Esposito teamed up to win the overall aboard their KTM 530XCR-W race machine at the Best in the Desert Parker 250 event this past weekend.
The Parker 250 marks the first of the "Best in the Desert" series events for 2008. The race consisted of three 80 mile loops. Reigning National Hare and Hound Champion, David Pearson, started the race for the Red Bull KTM Team. He began at 7:30am and led the first 30 miles before handing the bike over to Esposito for the next 80 miles.
Esposito took Pearson's two minute lead and extended it to five minutes before handing the bike back to Pearson for the next 80 miles. "The course was challenging," commented Pearson. He continued, "Passing the UTV's was extremely difficult near the end of the day as the track conditions were dusty and the UTV's created most of the dust we had to pass through."
The team had a six minute lead by the time Pearson passed the bike back to Esposito for the final 50 miles. Esposito road a smooth race, finishing in first place with a seven minute lead.
"This was the first long distance race on the KTM 530XCR-W and it couldn't have gone better. The bike performed well throughout the entire event and we had no problems at all; it was perfect," remarked Pearson after the event.
With one Best in the Desert Series win under their belt the team now leads in Series points. The next Best in the Desert event will take place in Laughlin, NV February 29- March 2, 2008.
