Team FMF Suzuki Off Road's Paul Whibley Takes Second-Straight OMA Win
June 8, 2008, Waukon, Iowa: Team FMF/Suzuki Off-Road's Paul Whibley continued to dominate the woods racing scene by racing to another stunning victory at the wet Maxxis Coyote Cross-country National, round four in the Parts Unlimited Off-Road Motorcycle and ATV Nationals (OMA), in Waukon, Iowa. Tornadoes, flash floods, overflowing creeks and pouring rain, made the course a challenge even for the most skilled riders, but Whibley took it all in stride and even looked comfortable at speed in the whacky weather conditions. After winning his second consecutive series race and stretching his series points lead, Whibley observed, "I guess I'm more comfortable in this wet than the dust."
Teammate Jimmy Jarrett switched from his usual RM250 to his Team FMF Suzuki Off-Road RM-Z450 and quickly slotted himself into second, but could not catch the rapidly disappearing Whibley and settled for his second straight runner-up finish, taking that spot in points as well.
Whibley's second straight win the OMA series comes only one week after his second straight win the GNCC series, which currently gives Whibley the best winning streak in off road racing so far this season. Currently, Whibley leads the OMA Series Championship and is a close second in the GNCC title chase.
Team FMF Suzuki Off-Road Highlights 2008:
Paul Whibley: Leading OMA Series Championship with 110 points/ two wins and two podiums. Second in GNCC Championship with 148 points/ two wins and one podium.
Jimmy Jarrett: Defending OMA Series Champion, currently second in OMA points with 79 points and two podiums. Fifth in GNCC Championship with 115 points and two podiums. Jarrett has been selected to represent America as part of the USA Trophy Team at the International Six Days Enduro (ISDE). Jarrett is a 4-time OMA Champion and is a multi-time ISDE Gold Medalist.
Charles Mullins: Third in OMA Series Championship with 65 points/ two wins. Fourth in GNCC Championship with 121 points/ one win and two podiums.
Joshua Strang: Third in GNCC Championship with 129 points and four podiums.
Nathan Woods: Selected to represent America as part of the USA Trophy Team for the 83rd International Six Days Enduro (ISDE). Woods is a 2-time WORCS Champion.
