    White smoke NO POWER!!! HELP

2k yz 250 - 2 stroke - Going up a huge muddy and slippery hill last weekend. Pretty much was pinning it, then letting off, and then pinning it in an attempt to make it all the way up. All of a sudden a total loss of power and a thick cloud of white smoke. I laid it down, and made my way down, bike still running... At the bottom of the hill I went through all of the gears, finding that no matter the gear I could only must maybe 5 miles per hour out of the bike. It sounded ok in idle and revved normal, just with no power whatsoever. My conclusion was that I burnt up the piston ring or cracked the cylinder. Does this sound correct. I'm just hoping it is not anything to do with the bottom end, as I have never torn that apart. Top end no big deal. 2 hours and a hundred bucks... Any input???

    Thanks -

it is a blown head gasket. where did the white smoke come from? exhaust or from the engine? either that or a cracked block. white smoke is antifreeze and from where you say it came from, i will be able to tell you exactly what is wrong.
