Yah first thing ive found out was to always check that plug, you might have fouled or just maybe was an old one time for a new plug.

If the plug is wet, you probably fouled it out
and to check if you have spark plug the plug into the black cord and hold it against the metal where you screw it in and have someone kick it and see if it sparks, clean it off first dont want it igniting a little flame on you if its wet with stuff

then it is simply flooded and he will need to clear it out.
Unless it made a violent noise when it died.

Why would it flood while he is ridding? This is not very common. You checked to make sure that the fuel is turned on. Check the air filter. Just a few basic things. Can you explain more about how it died? What happens when you try to start it? Do you get it to start at all?

if it stalled then it would flood, and trying to get it to restart he may have flooded it.

I am not sure, normally bikes do not flood enough to not get them started again ever.
