Bogging out when giving it the gas...

Hi another problem with my bike, got YZ 125 03, and well it runs fine, rode it all day saturday through the trails and once i exited the trails it was a long straight away so i put the petal to the metal but when i twisted the throttled it bogged out and died...couldnt get the bike started again un til i pushed it all way back and put new plug in, started, went to rev died again like it was climbing up a hill that was 90 degrees and bog out...so im lost..

Well what i have heard was, it could be my air filter not letting in enough air, and i also heard that you really need to ride 125's REALLY hard...im not the best so i dont ride it super hard like i guess people are saying i should...Which i did test matter of fact, the next day got it running and i just opened it up and rode it hard revving it up high (but not that high where it will blow) seemed to do fine....

Have you ever cleaned you air filter? If not, do it no matter what. Next, check out the filter skin a.k.a the fuel filter. It is located in the bottom of your tank. Two screws hold it in. If it appears dirty, clean it with some contact cleaner. Next, remove the bottom of the carburetor a.k.a the bowl. It is held on by four screws. There will be a a brass hex unit in there. This is your main jet and you should remove it and clean the small opening in it. If these do not get you anywhere, check your reed valves for any cracks. These are located directly bolted to the intake of your engine. If none of this gets you anywhere, let me know.

OK thanks man, Yah Air filter is clean its brand new out of the box first time use... now the fuel filter i am un sure if we cleaned it i do not remember so ill check that out, and for the carburetor thats all good cleaned that took totally apart, now for the reeds, we put brand new ones in but there still is some light shinning through it if you hold it at certian angles, is that alright or need to be totaly sealed? if so then i think the box the reeds are on is bad or misshaped...

Well, normally with the reeds they should be sealed fairly good. What is all this business about you think the cage is bad? If so, you may have located the culprit.

we think it maybe because when you look directly into it with the reeds on it seems sealed but when you tilt it up or down you see a pretty good line of light.... shows same on both brand new reeds and the old ones.. thats what makes us wonder

That is good you came over to this thread gscx, I can't remember what my reeds looked like in my old bike. All I know is that they should be sealed. You said that you used the same cage for both sets. Maybe a new cage is in order. Granted that is a weird thing to break.

well the cage wouldnt be the thing that would wear, the reed stops might be out of adjustment or just plain old and this will let the reeds open up too much and it might wear them out alot faster, and it is an older bike so this is probly the problem, or maybe you cankcase seal is letting a little bit of crank oil in and this would definently cause problems, check your transmissin level after a few rides and if it changes alot then that could be your problem

Yes, the crankcase gasket can leak but is somewhat uncommon. People do have trouble with this though.
