Ya, that is how Honda and some of KTM's bike roll. All Honda bikes are are super fancy like that. It lets you run regular gear oil in the tranny which saves your clutch and then synthetic in the engine for max life. Plus then you never have to worry about clutch debris in the engine.

Oh and another nice feature is that an oil change consists of 0.82qts making an oil change every ride virtually free.

Jim and I both changed our transmission oil and engine oil last ride and it still wasn't a gallon total. We have the same engine too if you didn't know. He just has the quad version.
