| C Rider | Hone or ReSleeve? I am changing the top end in my 1999 CR125 due to a blown head gasket. The piston came out quite torn up even though it only has maybe 10 rides on it, but I did have an overheat in that period. The cylinder itself has a few very light scratches at the outlet (exhaust) side where the piston top chipped. I am planning on getting a flex hone, but a freind told me they're not very strong. My question is will honing get very light scratches out of the cylinder, or will it just polish them? Or am I looking at a resleeve or even porting? Thanks much for the help. | Administrator | Honing will not take these scratches out. I would suggest taking it to a machine shop an asking them if it can be bored. They sell oversized pistons. It may be Nikasil coated though in which case you would have to find someone that could replate and hone it for you. Either way, just honing will not fix this problem. Either a new sleeve, or bore.

| Administrator | I don't know. It really depends. Even with a picture I couldn't make the call. What some people call light I call excessive, so I would really need to feel them to be certain. So, talking to a shop is the best choice.
