Clutch Issue

Im having a problem with my clutch on my 04 cr85. I need to pull it in so far that it hits the grip for it to go into neutral, and its hard to pull in. Would i just need a new clutch lever? or a whole clutch system?

How much slack do you have in the lever? What happens if you are in neutral and you pull the clutch in like you would normally and kick it into first? What happens if you just pull the clutch in normally and try to put it in neutral? Does it just make neutral impossible to get into? What happens when you are rolling in first gear and you pull the clutch in normally? How long have you noticed this problem? Even when you pull the clutch in super far does it still give you trouble? I know I asked a lot of questions but if you answer all of these I will be able to resolve this problem immediately.

Basically, i need to pull it in super far. When i pull it in super far so it hits the grip, it will stop moving, go into neutral, everything it should do. I can wiggle it up and down easily. What would you suggest to make it so i can pull it in easily and not as far... I have limited money to work with. Thanks

How much slack do you have in between the clutch lever the perch. Like, how far can you pull the lever that is just slack before it actually starts to put tension on the cable? When was the last time you changed your transmission oil? Honda is notorious for gear oil getting bad real quick. I have to change mine every two-three rides or my clutch gets too grippy.

its not the oil, because ive had the problem since the day i got it, even after i changed the oil. There is a bunch of slack, so it doesnt have alot of room to pull in. And its VERY hard to pull in where there is tension on the cable.

check for kinks in the cables shell
any kink can bind on the cable and cause it to be hard to pull in
when you let go of the clutch does it spring back or dose it slowly release?
