Need Info 89 honda cr250r

i have an 89 honda cr250r and about a week ago the engine locked up... When I took it apart i noticed that the ears on the bottom of the sleeve of the cylinder jug had broken... my piston also broke but the engine jammed before causing any scoring to the rest of the sleeve... I am trying to find out how far the piston comes down through this sleeve and if it is possible just to replace the piston and leave the sleeve as is.. or if anyone has any ideas on ways to fix this... atm moment i cannot afford to get a new jug or to have it resleeved.. TIA

this sounds like a bad news case for you...

i believe you have to have those ears on there so the piston would not fall out
was the piston jammed under the jug when you took it apart?

o, then i am not sure
is the rod bent?
i would put it back together (if you can) and take a marker and run a ring around the top of the cylinder at BDC
then take the piston off and push it against the line
from there i would try and tilt the piston out and if it just comes out i would say you are looking at a new jug

but before you go though all of this hassle wait for tig or some one to reply

No the rod is not bent the only damage is to the piston and the ears on the sleeve... everything else is fine... when the ears broke one piece wedged itself in the crank which stopped the piston from going back up and scoring the sleeve.. there was no damage to the crank either... the piston also broke so had it returned it would have done much more damage

you should save up you money, the piston my not wiggle when you move it with your hand at the bottom of the cylinder but at 10000 rpms things act quite a bit differently, go to oem parts and see if you can get a new cylinder with the sleeve already in it
