Really Sounds To Me Like He Just Needs To Get That Choke Fixed The Bike Seems To Start Fine After He Has Push Started It

tske the top end off and check it, and take the choke outof the carb and make sure nothing is worn down

No grinding sound after it starts. Is there a diagram somewhere online I can use?

... i am going for starter gear or bad bearing surface on the starter

there should be little notches on the choke that hold it up
