| Administrator | Keeping Track of Parts If your like me, then doing repairs that have a lot of small parts seem to get mixed up and scattered everywhere especially on first time repairs. One interesting tip I got from reading an old magazine years ago was to store the small parts in a old carboard egg crate/holder that has the spaces where the eggs used to be. You can write on the top, inside cover to name the parts so there easy to identify.

| Administrator | so funny story, i took apart my entire front end of my car including transmission and all the bolts were in this tiny plastic box. good times. thats how i do all my projects, but the egg crates really help things out.

| C Rider | Tackle box I have one of those plastic case for storing fishing lures. It has adjustable dividers so I can size up the compartments according to the parts. Also has a hinged lid that snaps down tight to keep everything in the right compartment. Another semi-related thng I do is take lots of pictures during any disassembly with a digital camera. Usually don't need the photos for reference, but the couple of times I have I've been really glad I have them. And when the job's done, you just delete 'em.

| C Rider | I have to take pictures every time. I have a REALLY short attention span. In fact, just the other day I had macaroni and I needed to cut the lawn, what's on TV tonight? Seriously though -- thanks for all the tips. Tigmaster rules!

| Super Moderator | I use old coffee cans. because then I have a lid. your biggest enemy when working on anything is losing parts.

| C Rider | Film Cases For itty bitty parts, especially things that are going to sit around a while, I often use the plastic containers film rolls come in. If you have a digital camera (and no film containers) your local photo shop will probably give you a bag-full for free.

| Administrator | Yeah film containers can be used for a bunch of stuff. They are easy to label also. You can make a wonderful little shelf for your film containers too to keep them all together and organized.

| Administrator | if im getting reall fancy, i will take a few zip lock bags and label them for general parts such as "engine" or "plastics". usually i just throw them in a pile on the ground.
