| Pro Mototips Member | Nuttin an Boltin You should aways check your spokes, tires, oil. But you might want to check your nuts and bolts, before you ride and after you wash your ride. Did you work on it the night before? Did your ole' lady, kid, whoever talk to you while you did it. It takes alittle more time but if you pull a wheelie and the wheel comes off you better be able to ride it home like that! That would be a major screw up, but you don't want to lose any of your stuff either! |

| Administrator | Great tip. This is very important guys. Please remember to do this often. I know someone that used to do this before every ride. Now i think that may have been excessive but its better safe then sorry. How often to you do your spokes?

| C Rider | I try and do a hard-core thorough check after ever ride. I usually hose the dirt and dust off our bikes the evening after riding, or the next day. After they're rinsed, I check things out. One of the best parts of regualr checks is you get to learn what parts are supposed to look like, fit like, and where they are. It's easier to spot something out of whack or missing if you're familiar with it. I check spokes every 4 or 5 rides. Sometimes a grab and shake, sometimes tapping with a screwdriver and listening -- the one that sounds drastically different from the others is too tight (higher 'ting') or too loose (lower 'tung'). Already trying to get my kids to do simple once-overs to get them in the a bit.
