| Administrator | well he said tension was good and if he is right then the obvious problem is he hit the lower chain guide on the swingarm and bent it.

| C Rider | Trans oil drain plug stripped Hi,The 81 Honda Cr250R that I'm going through has a stripped trans oil drain bolt.Anyone have a fix suggestion?I was wondering if a larger bolt and a tap could work or is a repair kit avalible for these situations (short of splitting cases). Thanks in advance for any help on this matter. ![]() |

| Administrator | ok and now for the cr250r with the stripped drain bolt. i would suggest drilling it out and re-taping with a bigger size. i did this on an rm80. however, i strongly recommend splitting the case to do this. otherwise, i would suggest throughly cleaning out the case with kerosene. then fill it up with oil and squeeze the clutch lever multiple times while kicking it over. then change this oil again. run a magnet through the drained oil and if any shaving stick to it, change the oil again. dont run the bike until you dont see any metal on the magnet.

| C Rider | Thanks for the ideas. The threads are stripped not the bolt head. The case is made of aluminum so I don't think a magnet will help with clean-out.I agree that flushing the cases is critical.I'm going to be looking for a bigger diameter drain bolt. Thanks again,Frosty |
