| A Rider | Put a little grease (I use bearing grease but you could use white lithium or even anti-sieze) on the bolts when you thread them back into the inserts. This will keep you bolt from siezing up inside the insert.

| Super Moderator | I thought the question was about the inserts, not the bolts? :???:

| Administrator | he was suggesting that the bolts were seizing up and spinning the inserts when u try and break them free.

| C Rider | yes, I tried to remove the bolts that hold the radiator shrouds to the gas tank. The bolts are siezed to the metal inserts that are cast into the side of the tank causing the inserts that are in the tank to spin. Not allowing the bolts to be removed. I broke the right shroud in an accident so I wasn't concered about cutting it away from the tank. The left only had one insert spin so I didn't cut that shroud off I left it in place. But in the end, I have a gas tank that I can't use anymore, as far as holding any shroud in place. I will end up buying a new tank but I really don't want to. I would like to get the bolts out. I need to get new radiators now and thay arn't cheap, and I really don't want to buy a new tank either. ![]() |

| Administrator | ya if u plan on buying new radiators, i would suggest aftermarket like fluidyne or something like that. they are the same price, but made of better aluminum and have a higher cooling capacity.

| C Rider | i decided to use the radiators for now. they hold fluid still and the stress mark I can have soldered closed to prevent future failure. I ended up cutting the tank apart so I could remove the bolts. I will be getting a new tank anyway, and all new plastic from motosport. I will be ordering radiator guards as well. If the radiators go out than I will get new ones also but for right now with cost of them, I will keep using the old ones. I think everyone for their advice. keep up the great work everyone and I will be using this site to help me become a better rider. ![]() |
