cam chain tension

Is it required to increase the tension on a cam chain? my wr has a little cam chain adjuster thingy and i was wondering when i should do anything with it and how to use it correctly.

is it spring loaded? if it is then u dont really worry about it. either way, the cam chain should be almost without slack, it will barely be able to move up and down, but not too tight. if u cant get the tensioner tight enough or the spring loaded tensioner is all the way in then u should replace the chain and check out the sliders to make sure they arent worn.
