rebuilding forks

well im rebuilding my forks cuz the seals were leakingand while im waiting for the parts ive done a couple of mock rebuilds with the old parts, just to make sure i would put them back together right. well i cant get the copper ring that goes above the fork seal washer into the outer fork tube groove. Any suggestions on what i should use to get it in there because i dont want to but a fork seal driver. And ive already tried to use tigs idea with the fork hammer but it doesnt work for me

I would post a thread in the TRS section and he will come help ya. We do have a professional fork guy as a member of our forum here and he gets notified anytime a new post turns up there.

k so, are these kyb or showa forks? if they are showa, then the fork hammer can also be used to drive that bushing in that you are talking about. also, if you are seeing a copper color then that bushing is worn excessively. you should only see a gray colored coating. on kyb forks, which it sounds like you have, i am not sure if it will work but should. otherwise you have to do it the sucky way by using like 8 screwdrivers to compact the ring and push it in place. just dont scratch it.

yea i was trying that ealier but it was to soft and it wouldnt really drive the ring in. and also i wouldnt really want to be cutting on it to get it off because i would probly make a stupid mistake and cut the tube.
