CRF is the Bike of the year, again....for a reason. CRF 250r baby! You really dont need the 450 unless you are going cross country. On a track you will never get it out of 3 gear, rendering the rest of the power usless. I dont know your skill set, but #4 #7, and #22 ( i know there are more, but you get my drift) are the best riders and they have 450's. Are you going to rece with them? I just think the extra money can be spent more wisely on up grades reather than stock power that wont get used much. Comparitivly speaking, i only have the skills of a 4 year old on a 1% grade down hill driveway on a tricycle compared to y'all. But i am just saying, a 450 is SOOOO exspencive. Just my 2 cents....maybe i am wrong.....

to discuss alltoreego's items first... i only paid $2200 for my bike. yes, i totally agree with you that none of us has the skill to use the full power but there are times when it is appreciated. but isnt the whole point of owning a dirt bike vs a quad to have an unnecessary amount of power? i also will be going to the dunes a lot which is where no matter how much power you have, you could use more. also, another reason for a bigger bike is the weight. i only weigh 130lbs so all of my bikes in the past have tended to feel light and almost floating. this bike handles great however. one other thing, there were actually times when i didnt have enough power to accelerate quickly enough to clear certain jumps and now i have to worry about landing on the face of the next jump. lol well almost. like i was saying, i just put the bike in 2nd gear on the track we were at and never shifted once. didnt need to down shift, didnt need to upshift. all jumps were cleared in 2nd. all in all, i think it was a good choice.

and for you gscx, i also was looking at cr250r's and rm250's. i had contacted several people about their rm's but got no response and finally got a response from the 450r guy so i jumped on it right then and there. not more than 10 minutes after receiving his email, i was seated upon the bike. he had it listed for $2700 and i straight up said would you take $2000 cash for it. he said he couldnt go lower than $2500 and i told him all i had to spend was $2200 and he asked how soon i could do it. i told him tomorrow and he said i will give it to you for $2200 if you can do it tomorrow. so me and jimmy rolled up to his house at 6:30 in the morning and got my new r. he also has a 450r, except the quad version. same motor, same everything except for hp to the ground.

um, there are a lot of stupid mistakes that need correcting before they do cause damage. besides that, one gasket needs to be replaced and possibly a quick top end. valves seem to be solid but we will see when i get into the engine. all in all, you cant argue with the price i paid. also, no matter what, even if i stall it on the track i can start it first kick. even after a half hour highway drive in 15 degree weather it probably took a matter of 15 kicks to get it running. so its a deal in my eyes.
