the age old question....which is better?

hi guys,

im new to this forum, and im looking to get a bike. i've narrowed the choices down to a yammy WR250f and a KTM 250 EXC-F. now for offroad use the ktm pretty much is a landslide winner from all the reviews and forums i've read. but i'll be needing to use the bike for on-road purposes as well. i've riden both bikes, only on-road, but not over 60km/h. So the question here is, at 110km/h how are they to ride???. with the ktm's 6 speed transmission vs the yammy 5. i will probly purchase a second set of rims with road tyres. any thoughts on this matter would be greatly appreciated...

cheers guys.

KTM is generally able to pull their gearing a bit better.

what kind of rev's is the ktm doin at about 110km/h? is it pingin off its tits? its just i may need to do some long trips in it (400km's or so). and being restricted to a bike upto 250cc, i cant look into getting a bigger bike.
cheers for the reply's...

maybe look at some new gearing? and, you dont need new rims for new on road tires. i dont really look at specs much, so i couldnt tell you which is better. i would get a crf 230l if i was on road riding and trailing. but, of course, thats all you could do with it.

Jmo, KTMs break the easiest. What did the GOAT ride? What Does bubba ride? Villapoto? The only winner on a KTM is Davis Knight, and he could win anything on a tricycle. Again, JMO

that is true in one aspect, they do break easier but if you keep up on maintnance, you shouldnt have any trouble. there not like a honda and will ride forever when you dont do anything to it lol
