as we all know, riding gear can become quite ripe so I have an effective method that gets it smelling clean and fresh. after riding, put your gear into the washing machine and set to presoak. be sure to use detergent for this cycle. next, use the heavy duty cycle to wash gear and if your budget allows use warm or hot water for the wash, the rinse can be cold or warm. remove gear immediately after wash cycle ends and either hang dry or use dryer on low setting. the reason for not leaving wet gear in washer is that it's easy to forget about it and it won't take long for it to start to smell musty....then you are back to square one.
so, to wrap this up, when you get home toss your gear in the washer and make yourself a snack. sit down and watch your favorite pre recorded programs and relax....after all, you've earned it. and by the time your program is over you'll be ready to hang that fresh gear up to dry.
cheers!
