So, i was just outside mowing, i had about 1/2 a lap in. All of a sudden, it falls on its face, and dies. It was sounding real bad.
Luckily we had some spare gaskets lying around so i popped it open and saw nothing, so i pulled the motor and popped off the oil pan. Saw a little tooth lying there and some shavings. I began to look and the crank gear had chipped a tooth! I was in awe. This is a brand new motor mind you! With like 5 mows on it. I swear this mower is cursed. LUCKILY, the crank gear on the old motor was one of the few things that had not been damaged, so i was able to line it up and use it, but i have no idea how that happened.
The last compression check was through the roof so my only guess is that it knocked on the cheap gas and there was an unexpected lurch on the gear and it knocked a tooth off. Im going to start using 91 or something.
Pics will come later, but also, if you are taking a motor apart, i strongly recomend using an impact. It makes things so much faster!
