U lucky Bas****! I need a parts car sooooo bad but all the good ones are in Long Island and Im in CT. I need a new right fender desperatly...original. I bought one from 1964-1972 Chevelle Parts, 1967-1981 Camaro Parts, 1962-1974 Nova Parts, and 1964-1972 El Camino Parts. GROUND UP/SS396.com is Your #1 Source for Sheet Metal, Engine Detailing, Restoration Parts, and Chevy Muscle Car Products! and i swear it was like an inch short and had a fat TAIWAN stamp on the back. It looked like it was made by blind Taiwanese kids....and I told them that. I would love to put a 4 speed in but gotta save up the cash cause we both know it isnt as easy as just taking it out and putting it in. Anyhoo...wanna sell that fender if you have it?

Just a quick bit of info. The killer 396/375hp version actually made about 475hp to 500hp when engine dyno'ed. Chevy (along with all the other manufactureres) downrated all of their hp numbers for racing purposes.

I would have to agree with you. I would have to say, if anything, the 350 is over rated. Chevy (and MOPAR espesially because of INSURANCE reasons) rated their engines lower. The 396 is capable of extremely high naturally aspirated engine; so does the 350 small block, but with the right cams, rods, valves, pistons, headers maybe even a bore job etc. on a 396 you cant compare. Thats a fact, but as for the my view on the 350 being overrated thats just one mans opinion. They have good reason to be overrated though; cost/gas efficiant (oximoron), potential for high output, lot of space, and easy to work with! I would imagine most classic chevy's still running with V8's have 350's, at least thats what i've seen.

The Chevy 350 is the most highly produced engine int the world. Over-rated or not it is one of the most versatile easiest to build engine around. Parts are inexpensive and easy to come by and you can squeeze them in just about anything that has wheels.

In todays world of huge displacement small blocks there are a lot of engine I would rather have but in reality you can't beat a 350 if for no other reason than my budget!!

I agree with you 100%. Something like 3 million manufactured since 53 or 55. But our key word here is BUDGET. Hell, if I had the cash I'd buy GM's new ZZ572. If you havent heard about it, its old news and you should look it up. 572CI naturally aspirated 720HP. Builders have cranked out 850+on 93 octane with this beast!
