My Car

well, the time has come. i plan on dropping a decent wad of cash on my car. i currently drive a FWD Ford Probe 2.0L CR 9:1. i dont have the cash to get a new car so this is all i have to work with. now i am considering doing a RWD conversion with a Mazda B2200 tranny because apparently they bolt right up. that would mean pulling the engine and rotating it 90, welding new tabs and extending different lines, maybe the steering rack would then be in the way too. it would also mean making new transmission hangers and a diff and driveshaft hanger. not to mention the conversion to driven rear wheels. ya i guess a bit work but i really want RWD for drifting. my other option is just to deal with FWD. either way the engine is getting pulled and bored out and the heads milled. i know i want my compression ratio around 11:1 which is 2mm off the heads. has anyone heard of going higher without problems? my list of mods is pretty steep and parts are already on the way but i want your help. wat mods do you think are best suiting for a track/drag car and should i roll FWD or RWD?

if i were you i would want rwd but if i got any mod i would definitly get a turbo charger that will give you the most hp over any thing.

I would keep the FWD and do some tweaking to the engine first. Like DirtriDER said a turbo kit will bring that thing to life. The RWD would be nice but it is a lot of work for no huge performance increase unless you plan on building a really radical engine. Plus if you tweak the engine you can still use all the same stuff if you ever to convert to RWD. Just a side note Ford owns Mazda so a lot of the stuff will interchange between the two makes.

ya, i kno. thats why the b2200 tranny bolts up to my engine. my car is the equivalent of the mazda 626. i think i am going to try and find a turbo at the junk yard since new ones are kinda pricey. unless someone wants to sponsor me????? compression ratio and new pistons and valves are the performance of the engine and then a whole new exhaust with headers, cold air intake and other mods i dont have time to list like plug wires and coil.

i want to take up drifting, thats why i wanted to go for a rwd conversion. of course drifting requires an excessive amount of hp so i would be on the strip too. i could really use a sponsor, anyone want to donate like $1000. im dead serious anyone want to help me out? ill out your name on my car. u wont be disappointed, i am a great driver. ok i was serious. i am seriously considering turning my car into a pile of parts for the remainder of summer and switch it up to rwd. idk i kno for sure the engine is coming out and a huge amount of performance work is being done to it. after that im not sure. since cash is tight im going to pull the engine and rebuild it in the next week or so and put it back in. then as i have money i will add external components like headers and what not. seriously i could use a sponsor lol.

ok well heres the rundown on what is happening to my car:

bored 0.040 over and heads milled 0.080 off for a compression ratio of 12:1

full exhaust system with custom headers to accept a t3/t4 garret turbo

new pistons and wrist pins

new high pressure head bolts

full engine bearings

full gasket set

adjustable lowering spring 1-4 inches

cold air intake to accommodate turbo

accel ignition coil

nology wires

bosch iridium plugs

new high flow fuel pump and filter

front and rear sway bars

short throw shifter

aluminum drive pulley

drilled and slotted rotors

these are a few mods, can anyone else think of others? i already have a full exedy clutch kit. help me out with mods and just know i dont want a body kit because they destroy performance and i want a sleeper look.
