you have to give it credit, they never really changed the internals, just the ignition mapping mostly, and it was still pretty competitive for being designed in 01. Honda's the only single cam, which is lame.

Its simpler, better for maint. but I think a twin cam is better for a race machine.

i think the twin cam is better all around. less moving parts and a more direct contact with the valves.

all of hondas engine have the single cam im pretty sure. my buddy has a 400ex which is equivalent to the xr400 and he has rockers.
