Brake disc guard

Im gonna be getting a new(to me) bike tomorrow. The only thing I dont like about hondas is that plastic disc guard over the front disc brake. Can you take this off without hurting it? Thanks.

I would suggest keeping it though. Many people get rocks caught up in there and destroy their $80 rotor. Just my opinion.
