| Administrator | Yes, that is what they are suggested to run stock at. You can however safely run up to 40:1 mineral and 50:1 synthetic. You have to rejet. My rm80 was said to run at 20:1. Well, I switched to 40:1 and it was crap until I got around to rejetting it and it was super responsive with no damage to the cylinder, I checked.

| Administrator | .....Do you realize what you are saying? Lets logically think through this. Say we have a bike running 32:1.... Now that means that for every spray of gas into the engine, 32 parts are gas and 1 part is oil. Now lets say you switch to 50:1.... You have the same amount of oil/gas entering the engine yet 50 parts are gas and 1 part is oil. This means you are putting MORE gas into your engine. Now if your engine was dialed in at 32:1, now almost doubles the amount of gas that it is jetted to run at. This means a richer engine. The friction produced by the oil has nothing to do with why you get performance from a leaner oil/gas mixture. Also, if the oil is just there to cool the engine, why don't they just beef up the cooling system and let that piston scrape hard against the bore from straight gas in the engine? That would be environmentally better so why don't they just put bigger radiators on there and not lubricate the piston and crank? And oil producing friction, didn't they specifically design oil to reduce friction??? This is not even an argument.

| Administrator | I am not sure what that means, but to hold true, I will find some data backing my side.

| Administrator | Ok, this first article backs what I was saying about 2 strokes requiring oil as a lubricant, not solely as a coolant. New Invention Available for License: Two Stroke Engine With A Dedicated Crank Oil System And Variable Ram Blower This page also backs that. Two-Stroke Basics | Energy & Utilities > Utilities Industry from AllBusiness.com I will get you more info, but that should be enough to disprove your cooling theory.

| Administrator | A lot of bikes don't even have a gasket. If they do, they are not a copper washer like 4 strokes, they are usually a viton o-ring.
