Yea I love fixing things especially engines but I am always worried I'm going to mess up. Its a lot of fun fixing little things cleaning it up. I got a chance to look at the piston and cylinder through the exhaust port. Everything looked really clean in there and the ring looked good from the little bit that I saw. Next is the grips then the desert tank. Anyone have an article for these? I'm just worried about the throttle side.

the real way you are supposed to do it is as follows: lightly coat the inside of each grip with grip glue after cleaning everything with alcohol. let set for about a minute. then slip the grip on about an inch. the with a compressor and some homemade fitting, poke a hole in the end of the grip and inflate them until they bulge out. slip them down the bars and then pull the compressor fitting out. they will never come off if you do it this way.

But really you can do everything minus the compressor and still get a decent seal. What are you worried about with the grips? You know the throttle side grip has a bigger inside diameter?

Yea I just found your article lol. Don't have an air compressor. Just on the glue package it was warning about how you can get glue stuck blah blah. So you just cut the old grips off and stick on the new pretty much right? I'll do it tomorrow or on my next day off. Are tanks easy to install? I'm going to wait until next payday but I'm just wondering. Oh ya bike bandit was great because they are located like 20 mins away so its just overnight shipping!

Yeah, tanks are a breeze. Do you have a Honda? I don't remember. If so, there are 2 bolts otherwise just the one tank bolt. Four bolts on each radiator shroud, then the one at the top of the tank. Two seat bolts and the rubber strap at the air box end of the tank. If Honda, usually the pet**** is not located on the tank and it is bolted to the frame with a single 8mm bolt. Otherwise, just take the hose off at the carburetor or maybe in your case since you are replacing the tank, at the pet**** or tank fitting.
