Weird CR250R problems (2004)

For awhile now my CR250R has been stalling after riding hard on it for more than 20-30 seconds or holding the throttle steady down a long stretch of road. After doing one of the two it starts to sounds as if it out of gas and then a booiing sound from the engine if I rev it and hold in the clutch, or if I keep going will get worse and then just shut shut off and keep rolling like if you ran out of gas and still had your hand on the throttle. Then it will try to start back up and struggle like if the spark plug was fouled then stall all together.

I have dealt with this for over two years now. It started when the local Honda shop mechanic had to fix my bike because it was pouring gas out of one of the carburetor hoses (Im not sure which one) and after I had got my bike back it was doing this and I never brought it back to him and told him what was wrong.

And even worse, just yesterday my bike started sputtering and smelling like burning oil while I was riding it. I opened up my transmission oil to check it and half of it was missing.

I do regular maintenance on my bike ex: clean air filter every ride, change oil every 5 rides and check coolant and refill when needed or necessary.

Any bit of advice or help is greatly appreciated. A diagnosis is also extremely helpful. Thanks in advance!

check your fuel filter and carb for dirt...

your float may be set to low and its not letting the bowl fill up as it needs to

loss of oil may be due to a bad gasket
since you said it smells like burnt oil this makes me thing its leaking into the crank case...

depends on how long "awhile" is, if its been sitting I would assume the carb has gunk in it and needs a good cleaning, as for the missing oil, burnt up gaskets or the worst, a hold in the crankcase

a hole wouldn't make the oil smell burnt though... it would just dump it out

I just took it out for a test ride and cleaning the fuel filter did not do anything. There is still knocking and pinging if i forgot to mention that originally.

check for worn bearings in the engine then.

for the bogging, your float tab is set too low, do you have a manual? beacuse if you have one you can just do this your self, i dont feel like explaining it. check in the section on the carb and it will tell you how to do it. but if it doesnt tell you how to do it come back here and either me or someone else will explain it to you. its a sensitive process. but what octane level gas do you run? and have you checked for heavy deposits on the piston? this can make it run hot and knock. and the buring oil can mean either oil is leaking through the crankcase into the crank cavity or maybe the seal on the right side is bad, but this wouldnt make half of it dissapear because the crank is high on the engine and oil doesnt sit around it
