| Pro Mototips Member | ok, that really isnt the thing to say either, thats like saying dont replace your piston because it still runs, then when the piston breaks in your cylinder you spend 400 to get the new cylinder and the piston, insted of the 100 dollar piston kit. sorta wrong isnt it?

| Pro Mototips Member | getting it ported would be the best way to spend your money, you can make the power wherever you want for about 250 dollars, and alot more than a exhaust and v force valves combined

| Administrator | OK, I guess I will touch on this reed issue first before jumping into exhaust/porting issues. OK, reeds offer almost no known hp increase. People buy aftermarket reeds for the sheer fact that they are constructed better than the crappy nylon stockers. With so many new materials out there in use in construction reeds, reliability can be quadrupled with no questions. There is no reason to buy them if yours work fine. Now exhaust/porting. A good exhaust is always going to provide more hp gain for a bike for porting. Obviously we could delve into the whole $/hp ratio but lets face it, you are out to get the most hp reliably and an exhaust does it, especially on a two stroke. Porting is a great option too and when combined with an exhaust the results are phenomenal but it just isn't going to make a massive difference. Porting offers 1-2hp tops in heavy over-exaggeration. An exhaust offers usually a 1-3hp gain. Remember, those claims of 10hp are straight lies. The factory 250f bikes only manage to squeeze an extra 13hp out of them and their bikes only last for one night and cost more than everything compiled that you will own in a lifetime.

| Pro Mototips Member | the main goal of prting a bike isnt to make more hp, you can make the power wherever you want alot better than a exhuast, you can also make the power spread alot better, the factory 250f bikes may put out 13 extra hp, but i can gurantee that they have power in alot more places than a stock 250f, not just a hp increase, they have to make it tractable and usable so they spread the power out alot
