street i think would be easier because of less rolling resistance

think of riding a bike on the street compared to in the grass or mudd

If you are that close to falling off a cliff you are going to fall off the cliff... Or your bike is sideways and you just ride it back up and away... Reverse is not going to have enough power to back you up a hill....
