crf250 04 shins problems

hi i own a honda crf 250 04 not had bike long having problems with the shins im 2 change them just wondering if its a job that needs 2 be done once a year or do they last a while if can help many thanks

the crf is a notorious valve eater!
replace with some nice kibblewhite ss valves.
