yes, but these brochure and specification scans are always rated in bhp, not rwhp!

Okay Davo... I'll cut you a little slack. Your RM makes more than 29 at the tire...

Try 31.... And that's Piped.

...assuming a normal gear system efficiency of 75%, this makes perfect sense...

40hp at the crank * .75 = 30 rwhp

I realize there area a few other variables, but this gets my point across. There's also a chain drive involved, which is no good (as compared to gears) so it's possible that the engine has a little more than 40hp at the crank (insignificant) to translate to the ~30 at the tire. (...that actually matters.)

30 is the number that actually carries value. If your engine is screaming out 60-horses, but you have a 50% efficient drive train, you're still staring 30 usable horsepower in the face.

no its not. bhp is measured at the crank. the bigger that number, doesnt mean the faster the bike. ALL THAT MATTERS IS WHAT YOU GET TO THE GROUND. like jimmyhoffa said, if you have a 60bhp engine and 50% efficiency, you only are getting 30rwhp. so from what you just said, all you guys over there would be like that bike with 60bhp that is only getting 30hp to the ground is faster than the 45bhp bike that is getting 40hp to the ground??? seems a little broken doesnt it???

what, so you are basically calling everyone there stupid. sorry, but i dont have a better word. you are saying that everyone doesnt realize that the hp reaching the ground is what counts. you just go by what the engine produces and dont care how the manufacturer gets it to the ground. let me reiterate what you are saying. if you were looking at 2 bikes, 1 producing 100bhp and 1 producing 40bhp. the 100bhp only puts out 15rwhp and the 40bhp bike puts out 35rwhp. you are saying you would buy the 100bhp even though it actually is getting 30hp less to the ground. is that what you are saying? you said that its all about the bhp didnt you? doesnt matter where you are from, as long as you have a basic understanding of hp ratings you can obviously see that the 40bhp would be faster.
