FMF 4.1 Muffler (Slip On)

Just purchased and got in the mail a new FMF slip on muffler for my 05 CRF250R. Went to slip it on, but the housing bracket that connects the muffler to the rear fender doesn't line up. Anyone else ever have this problem? Am I missing something before I go and start cutting up my exhaust pipes?!

k, what I would do is measure the distance between where your exhaust is and where it should be, then take a piece of metal, cut it to the length needed, drill holes and use that to attach it.

Yeah, I thought that making a make-shift bracket would be better than cutting a piece of pipe....have you seen this problem before?

a lot of mufflers will not fit up even though they claim it will. i would suggest drilling out the rivets on that bracket, then drilling new holes in the right spot and riveting it there. then just put some rivets into the old holes to prevent any leaks.

Well, I fixed the problem....at least for the time being. I wound up cutting some pipe, needing to buy a coupler, and then some hammering...but, it seems to fit with only one exception. But it should work out well.

cutting the main pipe shorter, and then rebending it to the right place (requires removal) would work good as new also
