it works better if you double it up and make the holes with a nail thats been heated to glow red, also melt the ends together, makes it tougher.

ya, i did all of those things u were saying. however if you actually think about it, doubling up does nothing but provide more material to press on. it does not increase strength, however it just feels better to do this. my washers are fairly large and my side plates have metal inserts in them so it presses on the washers with a good solid contact. my strap is bolted between my number plate and the seat tabs.

So i took mine off of my wr to make some adjustments, set it on a quad to do something else, come back and someone had taken off with the quad lol.
So i guess Im gona fiddle around and see if i cant make it work even better.

it would look super professional if you used metal grommets in the holes. man that would look nice and would be strong.
