jetting dr-z250

k i have an 04' dr-z250 and i am going to buy an FMF pipe, then i learned that you have to jet your carb correctly when buying a new pipe, now i read the thread that "tigmaster" posted but i am not quite getting it,so could someone explain to me how i would jet it correctly without wrecking my engine. also FMF said that before i start my bike after installing the pipe,i should jet the carb by turning something like a quarter turn, i dunno wut the hell they were sayin but yeh could somebody just tell me wut to do?

they are reffering to the fuel screw.
in short, when you take off the bowl of the carb there are brass hex (sometimes just slotted) brass heads. these are your jets

well i dunno maybe it was just me that i dont understand so i am going to talk to a guy i know who does this sort of stuff wen i get my pipe, but i have another question about the pipe, would i loss top speed if i baught an FMF pipe? because obviously the exhaust hole will be bigger so i would have more balls and more acceleration but would that acceleration and pep be taking from my top speed??

engine mods dont make your top speed any faster, they just help you accelerate faster

Fortunately you really don't have to worry about losing too much top end or bottom end. When buying an aftermarket pipe, you are really just improving on the design of the stock pipe.

no you wont lose any, but you shouldnt really worry about top speed what you should be wanting is torque and acceleration. top speed will get you almost no where on the track or trail if you dont have enough torque.
