| Administrator | Rusted Up Bolt Heads Well with the general frugality floating around between Jim and I, a technique devised by the scholar James Stephen Hoff came about, carried out by myself. So, if you couldn't tell from the thread name, which I assume most couldn't, this thread is about how to polish all the bolts on your bike and keep on having that good ole polished look. Its super simple and probably does not need more than a brief mentioning in some long lost thread but I figured that a full article would be god too. All you need is either a bench grinder with a wire wheel or a wire brush able to be chucked up in a drill. If you don't have either of these, buy them both because they are cheap and great to have. OK, so get yourself a good sized piece of cardboard first off, thickness is not of concern. Start by wire brushing all the heads of the bolts that you remove and as you finish wire brushing the bolts stick them through the cardboard and write next to them which part of the bike they are from. Now with all the heads flush on the cardboard piece, spray them with some good quality clear coat, at least 5 coats. There, now you have the polished steel look without the rust. Just be careful when torquing the bolts down, the clear coat can come off easily.

| Administrator | It depends, if you happen to have bolts that perfectly fit the socket then you are screwed, otherwise like with myself they were super tight but still slipped on. I guess it is trial and error.

| Administrator | It doesn't even matter if they are rusted yet, just plain dirty and this will cure them.
