94 kx 80

ok so i had to split the case and replace some parts and i was just wondering if theres a case gasket that i need to get or if you use something else when you put it back togather,oh and another reason i had to split the case was because tranny oil was getting in with the crank somehow because it was smoking white alot but the seals look brand new?

seals can look good but leak... which makes them a pain to spot out
look at the crank seals (as i am sure you did)

new gasket, its the way to go
why bother taking a risk

rtv silicone, i supose you could try it, just make sure you get all of the oil off of the metal before you apply the gasket

rtv on gasket try not to use to much just enough to seal it

i would clean the surface to be applied to with acetone or laquer thinner something with out oil in it so it does stick

and um is this in the part of the case where gas goes though? because rtv will break down rather quickly when its near gas, but oil is find once its dry

So, my yamaha uses sealant instead of a gasket for the case half, just make sure that there isnt a gasket you should have in there, check on a OEM diagram to see. If you need one you have to put it in there becasue htere are certain tolerances that they create.

i've looked on sites that sell oem parts and there was no gasket in the diagram but i looked on ebay at gasket kits for it and theres some that say it comes with a case gasket but none of the gaskets in the pic look like they are the same shape so idk

yeah i would have to use it to seal the whole case even the crank area,so rtv wont hold up in gas, then what do you recommend i use?

you dont need one, ive alaways used RTV for my sealing purposes, i just use the orange kind, ive never had any problems, and ive split my cases like 5 times. Or if for some you dont want to just do down to your shop and get some yamabond

be careful though. on my bike, theres alot of things you HAVE to use a gasket for. like my clutch cover, its so sensitive that if you use silicone instead of a gasket, it will creep because theres too much clearance

maybe yamabond is made to be around gas?
i know that high heat rtv and blue rtv and black rtv are not made to be around it and break down
says so on the package... and i have experienced it
