    Full Bike Rebuild

so i have been having some trouble with my 2004 rmz250 and im tired of dealing with it so i think im gonna make myself a brand new bike. now that im working again i have the cash to drop. so heres whats going on so far, let me know if u have any other performance adding parts. engines first of course. new hone in the bore to match a wiseco high compression piston. new kibblewhite black diamond valves and springs and of course a 5 angle valve job to go right along with the performance. also along with valve jobs goes my own porting job. im currently grinding my intake port and grinding and polishing my exhaust. with new valves i thought it would be suiting for a nice pair of hot cams. well thats about all the performance i can easily grab out of the engine. next is a full hinson kit; basket, outer hub, springs and plates. gotta transfer my new load of power somehow. then to handle my new power comes new tag sprockets and probaly a renthal chain. then a complete rebuild of the suspension is in order because currently all suspension components on my bike leak, its only an 04 i guess i just ride her hard. then for a little aesthetics with new case covers and plugs. ya i know its gonna cost a huge amount of cash but i figured i better do things right. plus the bikes already got full yoshi exhaust, tag triple clamps, graphics, and wavy rotors. and of course a twin air. it should be pretty hooked up after this even though its going to be a huge drop of cash. anyone else have any performance adding stuff. remember yur spending my money not yours so let me know.

ya my friend got his quad powder coated with the special extra durable gloss black. its kinda strong because i have personally jumped his quad and cased the frame on rocks only to discover no scratches. the guy that powder coats our stuff described it this way, "you kno the coating on a lawnmower handle, its about ten times stronger than that." i like black too im just thinking i should go for some eye grabbing color.

i think im going to turn this into kind of a journal of the progress of my bike rebuild. ill try to keep everyone updated and ask your opinions about my decesions. so last night i was wheeling a fully assembled bike down my basement steps at 7:05 PM and at 8:30 PM i was walking back up those steps because there were no more parts left to disassemble. so the frame is ready to be sent out to get powder coated. i dont even have to sand it or degrease it. they send it through sandblasting, an oven, a vapor degreaser, and electronic cleaning so that paint sticks to the inside of the frame preventing rust and then powder coating. its a pretty cool process, my buddy and i have had a tour of the plant. so wat does everyone think i should paint it and wat color plastics. and then any ideas on accenting.

Actully black and yellow would look really sharp. I hope TRS drops by here and tells us a little bit about his bike formally known as "Pinky"

ya i never liked that stupid white one. i did find the stock black one but im going to buy a gripper black. also cost of the bike rebuild is now around $1500. discovering my aluminum bore plated with nikasil screwed me a bit. not many people around here machine aluminum, but one does and he replates with nikasil. prob would cost me $140, but i run the risk of hitting sand pockets if the bore was cast crappily. so my other option is to buy a new cylinder for $200. not sure which way to go, but i do know that i wont be riding my bike for 2 and a half months. ya real fun, but it will look amazing and theres always more time to ride.

Well maybe it would be better just to fork over the $200 and run without any risks. Seems like the better long term investment
