because 2 strokes are lighter and better for jumping. and 4s are heavier and have power all over.

a 2 is still just as fast as a 4, but with out the weight, the power all over just makes it easier to rider fast.

the exact reason for 2 strokes is the rotational parts. all the rotating parts in a 4 stroke can easily through off landing. also the snap that 2 strokes provide is what they are looking for, but the excessive amount of tunning required to get that is important. watch when they are warming up, tunning their carbs.

In freestyle you need the snappy power of the 2 stroke

ya, they dont really need the power all over, but what they do want is something thats light and has great throttle response.

k we really need to stop with this whole weight issue thing and i guess im gonna have to stop it. Weight Of A Gallon Of Gasoline
now according to that article a gallon of gas weighs right around 6lbs. well according to yamaha, the yz125 which i consider the lightest 2 stroke weighs 190lbs correct? by the way, yamaha managed to shave off an impressive 6lbs this past year. now an rmz250 weighs 203lbs. so lets do the math 203-190=13lbs now if most gas tanks are right around 2 gallons then 2*6=12. so effectively the weight that everyone claims is so much more is that of the difference of an empty tank and a full tank of gas. also yamaha has many advanced building techniques and other companies arent so lucky at their weights. suzuki rolls in at 192lbs and honda at 197lbs. so if your riding a honda with a full tank and your buddy has half a tank in his rmz250, your bikes weigh the same. crazy huh????? please please please, would everyone stop being like, "o those 4 strokes are soo much heavier". because i will just refer you to this article every time.
