| C Rider | What is a good step up form xr100 Hi guys, i have an xr100 now and im really good on it. Im ready for a step up. Id like to try to stay away from 2 strokes, so that limits my possibilities. (if i were to get a 2 stroke, id probably get an 80/85). What i really wanted is a crf150r but there arent any for sale at all. (i dont want a 150f or 230) Im 14 125 lbs 5'5 or so. what do u guys think i should get. Should i go with a 2stroke, im worried that 2 strokes will need top ends alot, and ive never ridden them. Thanks for responses. by the way, im going to be riding at the track alot (not racing) but im also going to be riding in my backyard and maybee some local trails. |

| Administrator | huh, they sell th crf150r here in the states if thats where you are from. i have personally seen them at the dealer. ya, i would suggest a 4 stroke also, but they do require a fair amount of maintenance also.

| Super Moderator | for starting out and being on a budget go with a 85 yz85-the fastest, but you have to keep her pinned cr85-the most versatile rm85,not even sure they still make it-a good mix of both worlds kx85-rm clone.

| C Rider | Yes, they do sell them here, and i am from ny, but i wanted to get 1 used cause i cant spend 4,000 for the bike new, its rediculas. But there are hardly any used here. The only thing that im worried about is that a cr 85 will need a new top end often. How often do they need them, and how much do they cost. I have no clue on how to install them at all. |

| Administrator | yes, 2 strokes are so much cheaper. right now a yz250f goes for $3500 while a yz125 is around $1500.

Also, i know this is a stupid question, but with 4 strokes u can just pin it and hold down the throttle. With 2 strokes, do u need to keep reving it or can u just hold down the throttle also? (it would be my first 2 stroke bike so i want to make sure im not doing anything wrong) | |

| Super Moderator | A 2stroke requires alot of clutch work to keep in the power band, makes it more fun i think. A top end for a 2 smoke is probably around, 200? Depends, if your racing hard core than probably every 2 months or so if you just go for an occasional trip, than it may last years.

| Administrator | Top ends? I rode my yz250 for 6 months racing enduros every weekend without having to do it... So its not really as bad as you think... Just make sure to do all routine maintenance and you should be good to go.
