Is this a good deal?

Ok, so i met a guy today who wants to trade me streight across for my 03 CRF 230 (which i am WAY to big for now) with a 98 YZF 400 (which i have not seen yet). Is this a good deal? I know that the YZF is a way better bike for me but i am just wandering about resale value and the reliablity of Yamaha bikes.

Yamaha's are great bikes, they last a while but the bike your getting is going to be a solid if well maintained, it will be a lot more oil changing and air filter cleaning for sure. If its in good shape i would do it, if its not i would tell him maybe the bike and some cash.

Yes depends on shape and condition. Also if it may be more convenient for you that may be a factor also. I like trading things as it normally benefits both parties in some way and I always like to see happy smiling people

I have that exact bike (98 YZ400) and I love it. Sounds like a good deal to me just make sure that it is in good shape and also make sure that you can kick it over comfortably (depending on your size they can be difficult to start).
