X Games 12

It was one heck of a weekend for Motorcrosser/Rally Racer Travis Pastrana. On Friday, during the X Games 12, he performed an incredible double back flip (check out sequenced images) on his Suzuki motocrosser to get the best score in the X Games Freestyle Prelims.* I didn't see the event, but I did see the replay on TV, and it was scary?but he landed as he intended, on 2 wheels. He won the finals of this event on Sunday.

Then on Saturday, at X Games 12,* he traded his Zook for the Subaru Rally Team USA STI, and was racing against rally legend Sir Colin McRae (yes, he was knighted by the Queen). Pastrana was leading McRae for most of the event. Then, in the last couple of stages, McRae closed the gap, and actually took a .5 second lead. The winner would eventually be decided on the last stage of the event, which took place both inside and out the Home Depot Center stadium in LA, and finally finished inside with one of the most exciting finishes I've ever seen. In the very last lap, inside the stadium, McRae flipped his STI, it landed right side up (check out this video and this one too!), and he continued on, never missing a beat. The flip, did however cost him the rally, as Pastrana finished .52 seconds ahead of him.

I said a few days ago to keep your eye on Pastrana. I didn't expect results this soon however...
