Checking in from Texas

Well I am turning 40 next year so I thought it was time to mount up on a dirt bike once again. I started out life in the dirt at the age of 6 and rode all through highschool and college. When this thing called a wife and kids came around I found myself short on cash, so I hung it up and sold out. After a divorce and 20 plus years, I figured it was time to buy me a dirt bike.

I am currently engaged to a beautiful woman with two kids ages 8 and 10. After some research I bought 3 4 wheelers and made everyone happy. After much debate on what type of dirtbike I wanted (never was much on 3 or 4 wheelers) which I narrowed it down to Honda and Yamaha. I came across a 99 YZ 400F in pretty good shape. Picked it up and now its been about 1 month and every muscle in my body aches, but what a EXCELLENT time I am having as is my family.

My ultimate goal is to get back into good enough shape to actually race again... I loved motocross but have done it all...Enduro, motocross and trials even. I love to ride, I love the smell of a 2 stroke but ended up with a 4 stroke. I also own a Harley, which I ride to and from work on a daily basis due to the gas prices.

I mainly do most of the wrenching on my bikes, and am pretty confident, but in the same token am not too proud to say when its above my ability. I hope to obtain a lot of info on this site with the new to me bike.

Ride safe, but ride fast....

Bill

Hey, great to have you here. Good to see you getting back in the sport after so many years off and bringing the family with you.

We have plenty of how-to articles here and not a single question goes un-answered, even the most difficult one.

Enjoy the dirt and street, I sure do.

Yes I agree, it is a bit heavy, but I need to get into shape and will upgrade down the road if my body dosent fall apart!!

The family is really enjoying it. Like I said I grew up riding with my family, so I am passing it down the line...My parents both ride Harleys my brother was killed in 2000 on his, but motorcycles are in our blood, so we all still ride and have a good time. I am trying to talk my dad back into getting a dirt bike!!!!

Thanks so much for the welcome!!! I look forward to learning a lot from this board.
